Being too young to qualify as a trainer for guide dogs for the blind, Alison decided to study law to fill in time. After gaining her law degree she trained at Clarke Willmott & Clarke (which became Stewarts) in London, completing her solicitor's finals 1987. She remained in the personal injury department for Stewarts working in both London and Taunton. For the past 10 years Alison has been practicing in Southampton. She joined Walton Mills & Co as a partner in spring 2001.
Since qualifying as a solicitor in 1990, Alison's work has mainly consisted of serious brain and spinal injury claims, making her one of the most experienced solicitors in these areas. She now believes that handling a smaller caseload in a specialist firm enables her to devote the necessary time and resources to clients with challenging injuries. Her experience, compassion and holistic approach often require her to assist clients far beyond the constraints of most legal practitioners!
Alison has been a member of APIL - the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers since 1992, is an APIL Fellow, is on the Law Society's personal injury panel, and is a member of Headway National. She was chairman and trustee of Headway Southampton for many years.
Alison was one of the first female members of the Worshipful company of Paviors, belongs to the Naval Club in London, and was given the Freedom of the City of London in 1987. She is also a member of the Vegetarian Society, the British Horse Society, the British Psychological Society, and The Wine Society Dining Club.
Alison has a first class honours degree in Psychology, and when not working or studying, enjoys keeping fit, looking after her menagerie (horses, dogs, cats etc.) and arguing!
